Privacy Policy
1. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
Burnaby Counselling Group respects and uphold an individual’s right to privacy and to protection of his or her personal information. Burnaby Counselling Group is committed to ensuring compliance with applicable privacy legislation.
2. IMPLEMENTATION
2.1 Accountability
Burnaby Counselling Group is accountable for the personal information under itscontrol, and has appointed a Privacy Officer who is responsible for the society’s compliance with this Policy.
2.2 Identifying Purposes
Burnaby Counselling Group will identify the purposes for which we collect personal information at or before the time the information is collected.
2.3 Consent
Burnaby Counselling Group will obtain the appropriate consent from individuals for the collection, use, or disclosure of their personal information, except where the law provides an exemption.
2.4 Limiting Collection
The personal information collected by Burnaby Counselling Group will be limited to that which is necessary for the purposes identified.
2.5 Limiting Use, Disclosure, and Retention
Personal information will not be used or disclosed for purposes other than those for which it was collected, except with the consent of the individual oras required by law. Burnaby Counselling Group will only retain personal information as long as necessary for the fulfillment of those purposes. Burnaby Counselling Group does not sell, trade or rent information to third parties.

Personal information collected by Burnaby Counselling Group will be as accurate, complete and up-to-date as is necessary for the purpose for which it is to be used.

Burnaby Counselling Group protects personal information with appropriate security safeguards. Safeguards include physical, administrative, and electronic security measures.

Burnaby Counselling Group will make readily available to individuals specific information about its policies and procedures relating to the management of personal information which is under their control.
2.9 Individual Access
Individuals have the right to access their personal information under the control of Burnaby Counselling Group. The Privacy Officer will assist individuals with their access requests. In certain exceptional situations,Burnaby Counselling Group may not be able to provide access to certain personal information that it holds. If access cannot be provided, Burnaby Counselling Group will submit written notification giving reasons for the refusal.
