Theresa Azari - Treasurer, Board of Directors

Theresa is originally from Toronto but considers beautiful British Columbia home. She studied business at York University and began her professional journey on Bay Street working in capital markets. After moving to Vancouver in the early 2000s, Theresa obtained her accounting designation and advanced her career at various global financial institutions before diversifying her expertise into the technology industry. At this pivotal juncture, she worked closely with technical teams to audit the effectiveness of their technology platforms and developed a strong passion for troubleshooting challenges with respect to cybersecurity, governance, risk management and compliance. To accelerate the career transition from finance to cybersecurity, she pursued part-time studies to obtain her MBA and cybersecurity accreditations. After great success in leadership roles, Theresa stepped away from the corporate ladder in 2019 to launch her consulting business. In her practice, she supports clients of varying maturity and size to scale their operations, align tactical deliverables with the organization’s strategic vision, and strengthen their cybersecurity, privacy, and compliance posture in the digital era.

Theresa currently lives in Vancouver with her husband, Mohsen. The family feels truly blessed and is passionate about being in the service of others and amplifying God’s love and grace within the community through volunteer work – “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” In her spare time, Theresa enjoys cooking, doing craft activities, and spending time with family and friends.
