Get to Know Leah

Leah’s compassionate and gentle presence creates a safe space where you can unapologetically share your story, collaboratively set meaningful goals, and recognize the strengths you already have.  Leah brings an integrated approach to counselling and lets the individuality of clients shape their counselling experience.  Leah understands that chapters in life can be incredibly painful but has learned firsthand from her clients about human resilience.  She will honour your past experiences and empower you to shift from self-criticism to self-compassion.  Leah has experience providing individual counselling support to adolescents and adults across the lifespan, who are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions, and relationships.

Education & Training

Leah is a Registered Clinical Counsellor and holds a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology and is currently completing her PhD at the University of British Columbia. Leah is continuously engaged in training opportunities to provide exceptional counselling care to the clients she sees. Some of the specific skills and techniques she draws on include: values exercises to promote self-acceptance, Narrative Therapy interventions to bring insight, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy interventions to foster change. These skills are combined in an empathic and supportive counselling context with the aim to empower clients in living their preferred story. When Leah is not studying or counselling, she can be found in nature hiking with her husband Nathan and dogs, Chloe and Bella, or curled up with a novel.

“You either walk inside your story and own it or you stand outside your story and hustle for your worthiness.” ~ Brene Brown
